Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated 25 September 2026
These terms govern your use of Yslon. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and the organisation you represent.
1. The service
Yslon combines professional legal services with a software platform to help you register, follow and challenge intellectual property rights across jurisdictions. It includes legal advice, portfolio tracking, deadline alerts, watch services, and the preparation and submission of filings.
2. Legal advice
Legal advice is a core part of the Yslon service and is provided by our network of hundreds of legal partners: qualified IP attorneys and law firms around the world. We match each matter with the partner best placed for the right and jurisdiction concerned, and remain your point of contact throughout.
Advice is based on the instructions and information you give, is given for your use only, and may not be relied on by anyone else. Automated content in the platform, such as registry data, search results and alerts, supports that advice but is not itself advice until reviewed by a legal partner.
3. Your account
You must give accurate information, keep your login details secure and tell us promptly about any unauthorised use. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
4. Deadlines and data
We work hard to keep registry data and deadlines accurate, but we rely on information published by IP offices, which can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Alerts are an aid, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for meeting official deadlines and for checking the accuracy of anything you file.
5. Fees and official costs
You agree to pay the fees for your plan as shown at sign-up or in your order. Official fees charged by IP offices and fees of local agents are separate, and are passed on at cost unless agreed otherwise. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to file or oppose rights in bad faith or for unlawful purposes;
- scrape, resell or redistribute registry data from the service;
- interfere with the security or operation of the service;
- access the service to build a competing product.
7. Your content
You keep all rights in the content you upload. You give us permission to use it only as needed to provide the service to you, including sharing it with IP offices and agents on your instruction.
8. Our intellectual property
The service, the Yslon name and logo, and all related software and content are owned by us or our licensors. These terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about the outcome of any filing, opposition or other proceeding, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of rights, profits or business opportunity. Our total liability in any twelve month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms. On termination you can export your portfolio data for 30 days.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. We will give reasonable notice of material changes, and continued use of the service after they take effect means you accept them.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
